DescriptionThis mini-symposium will offer a unique perspective at the crossroad between excellence in HPC/Computational Sciences and benefits of more diversity, equity and inclusion. The session will be built around live testimonials from speakers at different stages of their career, each describing how diversity played and continues to play an important role in their path. While focusing on the quality of the scientific results, each presentation will highlight the importance of evolving and developing in an environment that is becoming more diverse and more inclusive. Different experiences will be shared: from PhD Student to an HPC engineer, with Elsa Germann, from PSI; how a Cairo university graduate who came to Switzerland to do his PhD in HPC is now working as a postdoc, with Ahmed Eleliemy from the University of Basel; how the coordination of Exclaim, one of most demanding exascale projects, requires diverse competences, technical and soft skills, with Tamara Bandikova from ETH Zürich. Finally, we will hear about the career track and professional experience of Adriana Iamnitchi, professor leading a research team in computational social data science at the University of Maastricht. Join us to see how diversity and inclusion are contributing to break barriers in HPC!
