From ETH Physics Student to HPC System Engineer
Presenter
DescriptionHow does one go from a master degree in physics to a specialist in high-performance computing? Where can one stay close to science and have an impact by helping scientists with their daily programming tasks? In this talk, I want to share one possible option and my rewarding journey in HPC as a DevOps/System Engineer. I started as an ETH student, continued with a Build & DevOps internship at MeteoSwiss, then as a Scientific Software Developer at C2SM and finally became a System Engineer at the Paul Scherrer Institute. I will include some of my achievements along the way and elaborate on the various challenges I faced and overcame as a Swiss woman.
