Assessing the Effectiveness of ML Models: A Discussion

DescriptionThe talks in this mini-symposium have ranged from the development and application of ML techniques from lattice QCD and molecular dynamics, to high temperature plasmas, to flows with sprays and high-Re turbulent flows. The purpose of this open session is to explore possible synergies between the various approaches, the interpretability and sensitivity of ML models, and the uncertainty quantification (UQ) of ML models. Above all, the panelists will attempt to answer the central question: how does one assess the effectiveness of a ML model?
