SUMMARY:Multi-Scale Multi-Domain Modeling of Net Zero Energy Community
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nWangda Zuo (University of Pennsylvania)\n\nTh
is presentation introduces our recent research in developing the Modelica-
based multi-scale multi-domain modeling technology for the optimal design
and operation of net zero energy communities (NZEC). Based on a real-world
NZEC in Florida, USA, an open source Modelica NZEC library has been devel
oped and public released. It consists of two sets of models: (1) higher-fi
delity physics-based models that consider the interaction between subsyste
ms of the studied NZEC and capture fast dynamics, and (2) lower-fidelity d
ata-driven models that require fewer resources to establish and/or run. Al
l models are validated against measurements from this real NZEC. To demons
trate the usage of the NZEC library, a case study is conducted where a bui
lding-to-grid integration control is evaluated via simulation. The evaluat
ion results suggest that the tested control significantly smooths the powe
r draw of the studied community and does not sacrifice thermal comfort to
a great extent.\n\nDomain: Computer Science, Machine Learning, and Applied
