SUMMARY:Technology to the Rescue! How HPC Industries Can Help Accelerate T
 ime-To-Science
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nGilles Fourestey (EPFL), Filippo Spiga (NVIDI
A Inc.), Samuel Antão (AMD), and Giacomo Rossi (Intel Inc.)\n\nThe role of
simulations and computing infrastructure is critical for the success of F
usion programme like EUROFusion or ITER. Domain scientists have been pushi
ng the boundaries of what it is possible in theory and experiments but, fo
r complex scenarios and expensive machinery, simulations are an essential
tool that are often in critical path of key engineering and scientific dec
isions. In this panel/firechat representatives of major Technology Provide
rs will engage in a constructive discussion about how the latest innovatio
ns in hardware and software can be leveraged to accelerate time-to-science
in Fusion research, sparklingly a debate on ‘why’ and ‘how’ different str
ategies are pursued as well as guide the audience through possible similar
ities and synergies across those. The panel aims to capture the interest o
f Research Software Engineers, Computational Scientists, and Decision Make
rs in the EUROFusion community. The audience is welcome to propose topics
of conversation and ask questions (including controversial ones). -- Panel
lists: Filippo Spiga, Developer Relations (NVIDIA); Samuel Antão, Senior M
ember Of Technical Staff (AMD); Giacomo Rossi, Application Software Engine
er (Intel). Moderator: Gilles Fourestey (EPFL).\n\nDomain: Physics\n\nSess
 ion Chair: Gilles Fourestey (EPFL)
