Data Handling and Workflow Management for Earth-2
Presenter
DescriptionOne goal of a digital twin of Earth is to provide access to as much planetary information as possible, and to enable users to combine and operate on this data interactively to gain new insights into this complex system. Fusing data from such diverse sources, ranging from IOT sensor data and satellite observations, all the way to largest scale climate simulations, typically requires some form of homogenization, a step that may involve complex processing workflows. The data handling system therefore needs to be able to define and execute such workflows. An additional challenge for such an information system is the geographic distribution and evolving nature of the underlying data repositories. The system therefore needs to be able to discover relevant data in a complex, distributed environment of data sources with varying quality of service. In this presentation, we will introduce the concept of a data federation service built on top of the NVIDIA Omniverse platform and how it is applied to the planetary information problem space. We will discuss the basic architectural concepts and describe how the challenges outlined above are addressed in this setup.
